Intel Core 2 Duo-Based Network Security Platform

Today’s enterprises face increasing pressure to implement products that ensure high computing power and low energy consumption, all while keeping the price in check. Those factors are especially important when it comes to mission-critical applications such as network security and firewalls.

American Portwell had those issues in mind when developing its NAR-5520 communications/network security platform. The NAR-5520 1U CA platform is designed for enterprise network security, firewall, WAN optimization, antivirus server, unified threat management, media gateway, and triple-play broadcasting setups.

The Portwell product uses the Intel 945G chipset with 1066/800/533MHz FSB, so it can run LGA775 socket processors, including single- and dual-core CPUs such as the Intel Core 2 Duo, Celeron D, Pentium D, and Pentium 4. The integrated system fits within a 1U chassis while still allowing the use of 3.5-inch hard disk drives and/or a removable hard drive by using the optional project base.

American Portwell created the NAR-5520 to be easy to install, use, and maintain, with a load factory default mechanism. It features front access Gigabit LAN ports for user-friendly maintenance and a 2x16 LCD module with four buttons for easy installation and operation. LEDs indicate power status, data access, Ethernet status and speed, and bypass status.

Other features include:

• Up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports with two built-in bypass segments (six standard)

• Up to 4GB DDR2 667/533/400 RAM

• Two optional PCI expansion slots

• One 3.5-inch hard disk drive (up to two can be installed)

• Optional crypto solution

• One front-accessible RJ45 console connector
